A client from Eventocal wants to provide their users with a personalized dashboard that addresses customers’ diverse interests when they find special events and experiences. So I designed an app for Eventocal that helps users search for events. This app allows the users to set their personal information, interests, and location before searching for events. Moreover, they can easily change their interests and information on the profile page to find other events they have not experienced before. Users can share events with their personalized interests.

A client from Eventocal wants to provide users with a personalized dashboard that addresses customers’ diverse interests when they find special events and experiences.
For this reason,
The Eventocal app should help users to find local events.
The app needs to provide engagement with the app to users. Users want to have intimacy with personalized information when using an app that is interactive and fun.
How can the app help users have control over the app? Users would feel more comfortable when they have control over what they see on the app.
Age from 21d to 50 years old with an annual income of $30,000 to $120.0000. They live in large urban areas in the USA. The audiences have interest in Food Tours, Bar Crawls, Trivia Nights, Hiking, Festivals, Block Parties, Art Walks, Sports, Nightlife, Concerts, Board Games, Family Friendly Bowling. Audiences would be optimistic, social and they seek spontaneity.
The Eventocal app provides events and experiences with personalized information and interests. The customers easily search for events with their location information and change their events on their profile page.
I designed these wireframes based on the company's research, information, personas, sitemap, interface inventory, and style tile I made. In addition, I want to personalize each event according to a user's location and interest to create pages for choosing interests and setting locations.
These are the wireframes based on the wireframe sketches. I try to make this digital wireframe as specific as possible. These wireframes helped me to develop high-fidelity mockups later. I want to see how the app would work and how users navigate this app to find their personalized events.
I developed the prototypes based on the wireframes. First of all, users can log in, sign up, and skip. After that, they can set their location to see more events near their house or wherever they are comfortable, but they can also forget this page. After putting their place, they choose the interests they have. Users can see “my events,” “This week,” and “popular locally” events. On the explore page, users can examine events near their location with a map. On the profile page, users can check or change their interests. They can check which events they already participated in before. There is the link to the prototypes below.
With the high fidelity mockups, I conducted usability tests to..
To have valuable insights and ideas from the users on how they think and find out events.
To evaluate the product with potential users.
To find unexpected problems that users might encounter when they use the app.
It would be better to have “recommended events” to provide more personalized events for each user. ( Four of six participants asked me if they cannot see the feature on this app.)
I needed to change layouts for the “choosing interests” page.
The participants did not scroll horizontally to choose more interests on this page. (All participants did not scroll horizontally on this page)
Three of six participants said it was hard to scroll horizontally to see more “my events,” “recommended events,” and “this week” events on the “My Events” page.
After finishing the usability test, I developed the prototypes I made.
A. Inserted recommended events after users choose their interests.
Four of six participants asked where they can check personalized events based on information of their interests. So I think it would be better to make content for “recommended events” for each user.
B. Inserted arrows to help users scroll horizontally on the “My Event” page.
C. Changed layouts for the choosing interests page.
These are the key images from the high-fidelity mockups. In addition, users can find exciting events they want to participate in with their diverse interests.
I only needed to focus on the “design” rather than research. It was an excellent opportunity to focus on UI design systems and atomic design. Still, I also like to research and create branding too.
Users get used to scrolling vertically rather than horizontally when they use their smartphones.
